Founded in 1964, UMOM is committed to our mission to prevent and end homelessness using innovative strategies and housing solutions that meet the unique needs of each family and individual. At UMOM, we move quickly to place families or individuals into short-term, subsidized housing, and then deploy a range of supportive services to overcome barriers to permanent housing. We provide safe shelter and supportive services for over 170 homeless families. We also offer nearly 300 units of affordable housing across the valley, each with special program centers for residents.

Position Description: The Training Manager is responsible for the design and delivery of organizational development content, strategies, and the coordination of UMOM's internship program. This role will help plan, conduct, and administer programs and workshops that train employees and develop interns to increase their skills, knowledge, and experience. The Training Manager will be accountable for evaluating and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement from a training perspective. This position be responsible for researching, planning and implement training and development programs that will prepare employees for the next step of their career.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Training Management and Program Design

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training curriculum/program to produce a highly effective and high performing workforce focused on continuous improvement.
  • Draft training manuals, presentations, materials, and reports as needed for all organizational development activities.
  • Present organizational level trainings and serve as certified training for identified development content.
  • Create, update, and implement formal new team member orientations, including orientations customized for each team.
  • Partner with Director of Talent to develop a consistent, formal on-boarding process for new programmatic staff
  • Provide scheduling and coordination for multidisciplinary programmatic meetings.
  • Track and manage status of all 30-day training plans and ensure all new staff completes mandatory trainings.
  • Manage and maintain accurate training records for all team members.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of intern program and agency training program to determine effectiveness.
  • Outline a master calendar for trainings to include monthly, quarterly, and annual trainings based on organizational needs.
  • Update, organize, and streamline talent related processes and policies to improve accessibility for all team members.
  • Develop new policy/procedure documents to reflect new or updated programs in collaboration with Program Directors.

Intern Management

  • Support recruitment of mission-driven talent to serve as interns for the organization.
  • Provide supervision, training and support to all programmatic interns.
  • Complete all paperwork and documentation required for obtaining and maintaining agency interns.

Qualification and Competency Requirements:                

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required'Master's degree in Social Work preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years of experience in relevant roles (e.g. training, talent development, and/or HR management positions)
  • Knowledge of non-profit/social sector; experience working with underserved or disadvantaged populations is preferred.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships within a fast-paced, collaborative setting that values diverse opinions; enthusiasm for helping drive change as UMOM becomes a more data-driven organization.

 

Computer skills:

  • Proficiency with applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

Compliance:

  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one
  • Valid AZ driver's license and a driving record that falls within UMOM's policy
  • 50/100 level of car insurance coverage (mileage reimbursement available)
